collegeportraits.org This site helps prospective college students compare colleges and universities based on several characteristics.  

Talbot’s Book  Talbot’s Book Online is dedicated to providing valuable information to high school students and their parents who are beginning the decision process for colleges and universities or who are investigating other post-secondary career plans. It is a useful resource providing connections to colleges, military programs, and financial lenders. It contains numerous articles on subjects ranging from choosing a college and the college application process to collegiate life and financing educational costs.

The CSCC Cougar Edge program is FREE for students who are transitioning from high school but not quite ready for college material.  This is a great way to get some developmental coursework, get used to the college experience, but not have to pay college tuition.  If you’re interested in this program, go to:  www.cscc.edu/workforce/CougarEdge.shtml.

We Connect Now  We Connect Now is a website dedicated to connecting college students with disabilities to resources for success in college and employment.  This is a great website for high school students with disabilities who are headed for college. 

Career Resources

Career Exploration The Exploring program offers career mentoring workshops for high school men and women between the ages of 14 – 20. Students who participate in this program will receive exciting hands-on experiences related to careers in art, aviation, broadcasting, engineering, fire and law enforcement, medicine, vet medicine, and other career fields. This program also can be used in conjunction with the Hilliard Mentorship program and looks good on college applications and resumes.

Ohio Career Information System (OCIS)  Sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Career Information System (OCIS) is an Internet-based delivery system for accurate, comprehensive, current, and relevant occupational, post-secondary school and financial aid information. OCIS contains the latest national, Ohio and local labor market data and projections.  OCIS also includes information on:  job interview preparation, Resume and cover letter creation, how to keep a job, self-employment, and military occupations.
