Getting Ready for your Freshman Year
The freshman teachers have provided some work that addresss specific skills of high school curriculum. This is not a requirement, but we do strongly suggest your child visit this site sometime during the summer in order to make the transition from middle school to high school more seamless.
World Studies:
Students should keep up with world curent events this summer – watch the news, read the paper, surf the web for world news, etc. Every unit that will be covered in World Studies is making the news in major events around the world, even now (Great Depression, Imperialism, Human rights, Genocide) – just to name a few.
English:
Here is the list of suggested readings. All of these are Board approved and are part of our tiered-reading titles. We feel that if students read one, some or many of these titles, they will be introduced to at least one of the themes/big ideas for their freshman year.
